The Indigenous Montessori Institute is an anti-racist, anti-biased approach to education using Indigenous knowledge systems and the Montessori Philosophy to deliver teacher training. It intends to reclaim and center Indigenous Education by decolonizing education in the classroom and system levels, restoring Indigenous knowledge systems that support early childhood education, and centering Indigenous language, values, and beliefs in education. Training Course

The Indigenous Montessori Institute IMI offers Philosophy of Indigenous Education (PIE) courses that explore Indigenous knowledge systems, intergenerational learning, language immersion practices, culturally sustaining pedagogies and more. The PIE tracks deliver up to 10 training modules, one in each of the Keres Children’s Learning Center’s fundamental principles. 

TUITION
$1,700 per PIE course. Includes access to the course materials. Payment Plans are available via the Indigenous Montessori Institute.

SCHOLARSHIPS
KCLC-IMI is pleased to be able to offer scholarships to enrolled members of Tribal Nations, as well as living stipends to support tuition costs and expenses for those who are accepted to both training tracks (PIE & Montessori training).

Scholarship criteria:

  • Enrolled membership in a Tribal nation

  • Acceptance letter to MNW training course

  • Completed PIE application

  • Completed scholarship application, released upon request

  • Letter of recommendation from an Indigenous colleague

Letters of interest should describe one’s reason for wanting to apply along with an expressed intent to apply for the upcoming training year. Letters of Interest may be submitted to Povi Mitchell at povi@kclcmontessori.org
